If you are planning on raking leaves this weekend, just a reminder that there are some burn bans in effect.

No burning is currently allowed in the Rural Municipalities of Ste.Anne and Stuartburn.

Steinbach Fire Department responded to three calls Thursday afternoon in a span of about two hours. Chief Kel Toews recommends residents not be striking matches on days like today.

"I wouldn't recommend burning in these conditions," he says.

Meanwhile, the RM of Hanover has a fire bylaw which prohibits burning in urban and rural residential areas of the municipality, though backyard fire pits are still allowed for burning logs. Conditions must be right for burning in Hanover which means no burning near a road where smoke can become a hazard for motorists and no burning if the wind speed exceeds 32 kilometres per hour.

The RM of Tache fire restriction remains at Level 1, which means fires are allowed in approved receptacles.
