Brush Fire Quickly Extinguished Near Steinbach

The Steinbach Fire Department was called to a grass fire Monday night on the southeast outskirts of the city.

The alarm came in just before 8:00 p.m. for a location near the corner of Hanover Road and Hespeler Street.

Fire Chief Kel Toews says about one acre of brush burned before they extinguished the flames.

Meanwhile, the La Broquerie Fire Department spent four hours Monday afternoon battling a brush fire seven miles south of La Broquerie.

Conditions remain tinder dry and fire bans are in place throughout southeastern Manitoba.
