Experienced Runner Brian Walker from Winnipeg was the quarter marathon winner at Let's Run Steinbach Saturday morning. He says his wife ran the race last year, but this is the first time he has taken part in Let's Run Steinbach. He notes it is a great event for the whole family.

Let's Run quarter marathon winner Brian Walker"We have a couple of young kids who like the bouncers and all of the kid's activities so I wanted to try to do it this year just because of that. It was a different course than last year, it was quite twisty and it was a little windy but it was a fun course, I have never done it before but it was nice to try something different."

Local Runner Cathy Engel was the female winner of the quarter marathon at the annual Let's Run Steinbach on Saturday morning.

Engel says she has come in third place for the last four years but notes her goal has always been to win the race.

"My ultimate running goal was to come in first place. I am really excited. It feels great and it is always a great event, really well organized."

Let's Run female winner Cathy EngelEngel says with her son and nephew also taking part in Let's Run it was a fun family event.

Organizer Greg Penner says the new route through the soccer park and Bushfarm Trails was a real highlight for many of the runners. He notes some of the people who participated had never run through the Bushfarm trails and were really impressed. He adds this year they held a special pancake breakfast to wrap up the run.

"We thought for our ten year anniversary we would throw in something new. Something to celebrate and going in that tent and see the community, that is another reason why we do the event, just to bring people together that love to be fit and to be active together and it has been awesome. We had 2,000 pancakes and I hear we are almost out so that is pretty amazing."
