Seven-year-old Telysha Warkentin from Blumenort has become a safety ambassador for the War Amps.

Warkentin was born a left arm amputee and has been a part of the Child Amputee or Champ program with the War Amps for many years. She says she now talks to other children about playing safe and helps out with a variety of War Amps events.

"Some other people got it cut off because they weren't playing safe that it is why we talk about PLAYSAFE at the War Amps. Every year we watch people go on floats and this was my first year in 2017."

Telysha's mother Jodi Warkentin says over the years the War Amps have been instrumental in helping them get a variety of prosthetic arms as Telysha grew and connecting them with other families who are learning alongside them.

"I love how now that she is seven we can see the new parents with the little kids coming in and walk beside them like they did for us years ago. It is a really good family atmosphere. Without them, we would never be able to keep up with the amount of dollars we would have to spend for her to have every chance she can to be live every other kid."

Telysha says her friends at school think her prosthetics are neat, and they especially liked her hook arm she wore for pirate day.
