Ratepayers living in Blumenort are looking at a potential minimal increase this year on the Local Urban District portion of their taxes.

Chair Leo Penner says if approved, the increase will be less than one dollar over last year for an average home assessed at $250,000.

Penner says planned expenditures this year are $341,742. That is an increase of 9.1 per cent or $28,500 over last year.

Penner notes two capital projects being planned for this year are the construction of a sidewalk along Pleasant Drive for $31,500 and one along Flower Place Drive for $27,000. These sidewalks will connect Park Road to Barkman Street.

The LUD committee is also considering purchasing a tractor at a cost of up to $70,000. Penner says the tractor would include a snow blower, sweeper and bucket for general maintenance around the community.
