Council for the Rural Municipality of Hanover has approved tenders for three fire trucks for the new hall being built in Blumenort.

In April of this year, a Request for Tender was released to four truck manufacturers. By the time tenders closed May 18, three proposals were received.

Reeve Stan Toews says Fort Garry Fire Trucks was the winning bid for all three. In each case, they offered the lowest qualified bid.

Fort Garry Fire Trucks will be building a Freightliner pumper at a cost of $377,748, an International rescue at a cost of $364,383 and an International tanker for $314,600. The combined cost for all three is just over $1 million. According to Toews, their budget was just over $1.3 million.

Even though construction of the new hall in Blumenort is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, Toews says it will probably be close to one year before the new trucks arrive.
