Two big resignations will be affecting the Seine River School Division’s administration this semester.

Superintendent Michael Borgfjord says in a matter of months his division will be saying goodbye to Secretary-Treasurer Paul Ilchena and Assistant Superintendent Monica Biggar, both of whom were vital in moving the division forward.

“Paul has been a great resource to the board and principals in the schools and has done amazing work over the last 16 years,” says Borgfjord, “he will be moving on to be the Executive Director of the Manitoba Association of School Business officials and we are happy for him and that opportunity.”

Borgfjord offers similar comments on Biggar’s behalf.

“She’s served almost six years and has been a big contributor in working with our schools, looking at data, and helping teachers improve in their practice.”

Ilchena will be leaving the division in April. Biggar’s last day will be sometime in May.

Borgfjord is well aware that these retirement announcements come on the cusp of the Manitoba K-12 Education Review’s completion. So, he says, his division will be juggling this internal management shift in tandem with any incoming changes to provincial schooling.

As for their replacements, Borgfjord says the division’s former finance manager, Mary Trudeau, will assume Ilchena’s place as the new secretary-treasurer, meanwhile, the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction will be hired after the dust from the education review settles.
