The former postmistress at the Neufeld Garage says it was special to have had the 1950's style cafe at the Prairie Attic Christmas Market, organized by five of her granddaughter's, named in her honour.

'Aunt' Jessie Neufeld says she worked at Neufeld Garage for many years and enjoyed connecting with people and building a greater sense of community.

"I got to know a lot of people. Everything was special; portzelky, like fritters, they were always appreciated by everybody. We would say 'Happy New Year' or whatever it was and hand them out."

She adds the appreciation shows how much the community feel was important to people.

Neufeld's daughter Marilyn Neufeld says many people have shared how positive a person her mother is and how she made them feel comfortable in the community as well as how she helped them get involved in various volunteer opportunities.

"She got them involved in some of the volunteer things at the rink my mother might recruit people to help out at the museum as a volunteer because that was another big part of her life, or she would get them involved in a community Bible study."

She says her mother not only handed out the mail at the garage, but she also handed out hospitality, graciousness, and care for the people of the community.
