A male was taken into custody in the Richer area Sunday afternoon on charges of assault.

RCMP report they were called to a residence around 4:30 p.m. Investigation led to the arrest of 39-year-old Christian Jacques. He has been charged with a number of offences including assault, aggravated assault against a police officer, uttering threats, resisting arrest and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police say Jacques has been remanded in custody.
