An armed robbery took place at the Ste. Genevieve General Store Wednesday night.

RCMP say they were notified at 8:30 p.m. that two suspects had entered the store dressed in black, one with a firearm and the other with a knife. They add the suspects stole cash, liquor, and cigarettes. No injuries were reported.

RCMP say they responded immediately but the suspects had fled by the time officers arrived on scene. They add this incident may be related to the armed robbery in Sarto last week Wednesday, January 3.

They add multiple RCMP resources, including Major Crime Services are assisting with the investigation.

If you have any information in regards to the above you are asked to contact the Steinbach RCMP Detachment at (204) 326-4452 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to Crimes (274637).

RCMP say all reports of incidents involving a firearm are treated as extremely serious and are dealt with as real until proven otherwise. They add the Criminal Code of Canada clearly states that anyone using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence will be treated no differently, as though the firearm was real.
