It is a season of roadwork in Ste. Anne and the town’s Operations Manager says good changes are coming.

John Desrochers says there are a few notable projects underway in his community.

“Currently, Manitoba Infrastructure is building a turning lane at the intersection of Traverse Road and Central Avenue,” explains Desrochers, "the benefit to that is now traffic will be able to merge right onto Central.”

Meanwhile, Desrochers says the shoulders on the east side of town are being paved to serve as an active transportation route and Arena Road is being widened to facilitate school bus traffic.

“With the growth we’ve been noticing in town, it has become very apparent that something needed to be done in some of these places,” comments Desrochers, “so we’re just happy the province is getting on board and helping us out.”

Together, Desrochers feels these road improvements will ease rush-hour congestion and help tidy up the increasingly busy streets of Ste. Anne.
