The Summer in the City board is excited to see a full slate of high calibre headliners on the main stage this year.

The festival will kick off on Friday with Terri Clark headlining the country concert. Clark says she is really looking forward to the intimate Summer in the City main stage.

“I love playing in Manitoba. I enjoy a show where the audience is fully in, I don’t care it is 20, or 2,000, or 20,000 people, I really don’t. If I can feel that they are into what is going on and they are giving them the energy that I need to give them back the energy that they want, that is a magical experience.”

Desiree Barkman is the Head of Marketing for Summer in the City. She says they are excited to announce two headliners for the classic rock night on Saturday, Harlequin and Honeymoon Suite. She notes it is great to see such talented performers at the festival this year.

"I think we have really taken strides as a festival. There are artists that we have tried to get for a couple of years that our festival just wasn’t big enough to have, but that says something about Summer in the City and how we have been able to grow as a festival, they are coming here to our festival and they want to be here whereas before it wasn’t a big enough draw."

Ben Nickel is the Co-Chair of the Worship in the City committee. He says Sunday will feature Danny Plett and Project Worship, Speaker Mark Hughes, and an afternoon of Christian Artists.

"At 12:30 it will start off with our comedian Matt Falk and then some local bands. For our professional bands this year, The Colour who have just won a Juno for the best album of the year and then we will have the dynamic Manic Drive, a very energetic band that is out of Toronto."

Barkman says this will be a year of great music at Summer in the City which should provide great entertainment.
