Whether it's playing hockey at the outdoor rink, sliding at Abe's Hill, scraping the driveway or just out for a walk, people from the southeast were out and about this Saturday enjoying the mild sunny weather.

A meteorologist with Environment Canada says the unseasonably mild weather is expected to stick around for at least another week. Brad Vrolijk notes within the next week or two we should expect daily highs to return to the seasonal norm for this time of year which is about -11 here in the southeast.

"This is a very pleasant break from the cold temperatures we had earlier in the month. Really not a lot weatherwise going on, we'll just see variable cloudiness and lots of high temperatures around minus five or minus six over the next five to seven days."

Downtown Steinbach is a bit busier again this weekend because of the 29th annual Steinbach Panthers Ringuette Tournament. 13 U12 to U16 teams are in town for the weekend tournament which wraps up late tomorrow afternoon.

The outdoor rinks have reopened today but caution is advised as some areas on the ice near the boards are very soft and can be dangerous. Be safe and have fun this warm sunny weekend.
