3 Truckloads Of Food Collected At The Fall Food Drive

The Fall Food Drive at Superstore on Friday was a big success.

With help from a number of sponsors, the Steinbach RCMP, and the generous residents of southeastern Manitoba we were able to collect over three truckloads of non-perishable food items between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Hank Klassen is the Chair of Southeast Helping Hands. He says the youth food collections earlier this week didn’t have quite as much manpower as they have had in years past but the Fall Food Driver nicely filled the gap.

"It was just fantastic. The RCMP were there helping us and we loaded their cruiser up and Friesen Drillers had their trucks full and it was all so busy and good that you could hardly contain yourself."

Klassen says the food bank was like a zoo with everyone unloading the trucks and the RCMP cruiser which as crammed full of food. He says it provided a nice bump to the Farm Credit Canada Drive Away Hunger Campaign.
