A total of 24 new licensed child care spaces will be added to Les P'tits Brisous daycare in La Broquerie.

This was part of a provincial announcement made today by Families Minister Scott Fielding announcing the creation of up to 780 new licensed early learning and child-care spaces, supported by $22.8 million through the Canada-Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.

Assistant Director Louanne Vielfaure-Trudeau says the news couldn't have come at a better time.

"We're just beyond excited to hear the news. We're thrilled to finally be able to share the announcement with all our families. For our waiting list, it's going to be great to be able to call those parents and to finally be able to relieve a little bit of the names on that list who have been waiting a while to get a spot so we're just beyond thrilled at this point."

Vielfaure- Trudeau says 16 preschool spaces have been added for children aged two to five years old. Their infant spaces for kids aged three months to two years will now be able to double which she notes is huge for them.

"In the infant room we only have eight spaces at the moment and that's usually where our list is heavy because moms are going back to work and we only have eight spaces so that's where the list is long."

She thanks the members of the community who support Les P'tits Brisous and members of their parent board who worked very hard to make this happen.
