Steinbach RCMP are investigating an armed robbery at 1st Choice Convenience Store on Main Street Tuesday evening.

RCMP say they responded to a panic alarm at approximately 10:30 P.M. Police say employees informed them that a male entered the store wearing a black ski mask, black hoodie, and gray pants. The man held a gun up and demanded cigarettes and money. Upon receiving the items he asked for, the male fled on foot northeast up Kroeker Avenue next to the fire hall.

Steinbach RCMP say they called out their Police Dog Service unit for assistance, however, with high pedestrian traffic in the area at the time, they were not able to locate the individual. The investigation is ongoing.
