The Steinbach Pistons added some firepower ahead of the trade deadline as they've acquired 20-year-old Nico Labossiere from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Labossiere last saw action as a member of the Selkirk Steelers where he collected 7 assists in 12 games. Prior to this season, he scored 22 goals and 42 assists for 64 games with Selkirk.

"Nico brings a lot of energy to the game" Pistons coach Paul Dyck said via text Thursday afternoon. "He has been a very productive player in our league. He will be a nice addition to our power play. Nico is a player we have been hoping to acquire for some time."

Headed the other way is 17-year-old Landmark native Kieran Thiessen.

Thiessen has had an outstanding season with the Midget AAA Eastman Selects. Thiessen made a serious jump on the stat sheet from last season, nearly tripling his point totals. In 33 games, the 5-foot-8, 146-pound forward has scored 21 goals and 24 assists.

He will continue to play out the rest of this season with the Eastman Selects before making the jump to Junior ‘A’ to start the 2019-20 campaign.

The Pistons also announced they've acquired Caleb Paisley from the Red Lake Falls Miners in exchange for future considerations.

It's a homecoming for Paisley who played two games with the Pistons in 2016-17. He recorded 11 points in 9 games for Red Lake.

"Caleb is someone we are very familiar with," Dyck said. "He has two years of experience now and is very competitive. We are very pleased to bring him back to Steinbach.

In their final move of the day, the Pistons added more sandpaper by picking up 20-year-old forward Riley Vautour from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines for Trent Halfdanson.

Vautour had 23 points in 35 games for the Wolverines while amassing 109 penalty minutes.

"Riley plays a hard nose game and he can contribute offensively," Dyck said after the deadline had passed. "He is the type of player you notice when you play against him and we feel is a player that can really help us down the stretch."

Halfdanson was picked up from the Winkler Flyers earlier in the year. He had 2 assists in 7 games with Steinbach.

It's unknown if all or any of the newly acquired Pistons will be in the lineup come Friday vs the Neepawa Natives.
