The Niverville Panthers are Provincial AAA High School Varsity Girls Volleyball champions. The Panthers defeated Leo Remillard 25-16, 23-25, 15-4 in the final Saturday night in Winnipeg. Panthers setter Malia Thiessen was named the Provincials MVP while power hitter Melissa Zapp and right side hitter Aysia Richards were named to the All-Star Team.

Two Zone 13 teams are Provincial High School Varsity Volleyball finalists. The Edward Schreyer Barons of Beausejour lost to Linden Christian in the AAA boys final in Winnipeg. The Gabrielle Roy Les Roys were swept by the Rosenort Redhawks in the AA boys final in MacGregor.

The Lorette Comets and Springfield Xtreme were winners in the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League. Troy Beauchemin scored four times to lead the Comets past Macdonald 5-3. Dryden Bound had a pair of goals for the Swarm. Matt Gagliardi scored twice and Quinn Keller had three assists as the Xtreme beat the Red River Mudbugs 7-2.

Isaac Gordon scored a pair of third period goals including a shorthanded marker as the Eastman Selects downed the Norman Northstars 5-1 in Thompson. Trey Sellen also scored twice for the Selects. Luke Mistelbacher had the other.

The Eastman Selects lost 3-1 to the St. Catherines Brock Badgers in their final round robin game at the 2 Nations College Prep U18 Female Hockey Tournament in Brampton, Ontario. The Selects then fell 4-1 to the Badgers and finished the tournament with a 0-4 record.

Nolan Ritchie scored twice and Ethan Kruger made 34 saves as the Brandon Wheat Kings wrapped up their four-game road trip with a 4-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers. The Winnipeg Ice gave up five second period goals and fell 6-2 to the Saskatoon Blades. It’s the first regulation home ice loss of the season for the Ice.

Kody Hartung, Colton Lott, Kayla McMillan and Amber Holland qualified for the playoffs through A Event at the 2021 DEKALB SuperSpiel in Morris.
