Game 48 is in the books.

The Eastman Selects played their regular season finale this past Sunday at the Sun Gro Centre in Beausejour.

Roux Bazin scored his second goal of the game 64 seconds into overtime to lift the Pembina Valley Hawks past the Selects 4-3.

"I actually thought my boys played pretty well," said Eastman head coach Scott Wong. "We had a lot chances, their goalie made a lot of saves and we missed a lot of nets. We definitely had the advantage in the game to capitalize and we didn't. Up until this point we've kind of been on a bit on a downslide but it's time to regroup and go forward. We had a meeting about it so we'll be fine."

Hudson Chamberlin scored a pair of goals for the Selects.

Eastman finished in sixth place in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey Leage with a record of 27-16-0-5.

"The boys have really developed into quite the hockey team," Wong said. "We showed a lot of signs of it in this game. One of the big differences is we're not playing as often. Up until Christmas we played 31 games which was the most in the league. We had pretty good momentum and pretty good stamina when it came to playing any given team on any given night and now we've got to find that again."

The Selects will face the Wheat Kings in Brandon Friday night in game one of their best-of-five quarterfinal series.

"We have to be aggressive," answered Wong when asked what the key is for his team to put together a lengthy playoff run. "You got to know your surroundings. Our defensemen have to be smart with pucks and forwards have to avoid the costly grey zone turnovers. I think the biggest difference in this series is going to be goaltending."

Game two will be played Sunday (2 p.m.) at the Sun Gro Centre.
