The Eastman Selects capped off an incredible regular season and special run in the Provincials by winning gold back on Sunday in Niverville.

The Selects faced adversity in the semi-finals and needed to capture a little magic.

Down 3-2 halfway through the second, the hardworking Selects put their work boots on and managed to roar back with 4 unanswered goals to take away a 6-3 win over the South West Cougars.

In the finals, again, the Selects needed to battle back.

Eastman threw everything at the net piling up 56 shots on goal as they continued to pepper the Pembina Valley Hawks netminder.

With only 5 minutes remaining in the third period of a tie game, Nolan Van-Den-Bussche (Oakbank) broke the deadlock with his second goal of the night to push Eastman out in front.

The horn sounded and the Selects were crowned champions.

Several Selects had memorable tournaments.

The line of Brody Beauchemin, Bryce Warkentine and Nolan Van-Den-Bussche combined for 32 points in 4 games.

Denton Mateychuk led all defensemen in scoring with 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points in 4 games.

Spencer Penner (Blumenort) and Mateychuk (Dominion City) were named tournament all-stars.

Both Josh Rach (Cooks Creek) and Ethan Penner (Mitchell) had shutouts during the round robin.

Brody Beauchemin(Iles Des Chenes) led the tourney in points with 5g,7a 12 points in 4 games.

The Selects will now turn their attention to the best of three serious against whoever wins in the city. March 15-17
