The Eastman Selects are Manitoba Female AAA Midget Hockey League champions. They captured their first championship last night with a 3-2 double-overtime win over the Pembina Valley Hawks. The Selects won the best of five series three games to one.

Liza Vigier opened the scoring for the Selects in the second period with an unassisted breakaway goal. The Pembina Valley Hawks came back with two goals and Eastman trailed 2-1 after the middle frame. Janelle Perrault tied the game up midway through the third with assists from Kyana Brown and Alix Tosh, taking the game into overtime. Each team had quality chances in the first overtime but neither could capitalize. Then five minutes into the double OT, Kylie Lesuk slid the puck through the five-hole of the Hawks netminder lifting the Selects to their first MFMHL title. The Selects move onto the West Regional Championship qualifier for the Esso Cup happening April 6th to 8th in Steinbach.
