Austin Dueck threw a pair of touchdown passes to Jayden Martens as the Steinbach Regional Secondary School defeated the St. Paul's Crusaders 34-0 Wednesday at A.D. Penner Park.

"I'm super excited for our guys, the whole team and most importantly I'm thrilled at how we were able to honour Coach Koby (Brian Kobylak) with our play," texted SRSS head coach Kerry Friesen. "I'm confident that he would be very proud of our boys."

Coach Koby, who joined the Sabres football program in 2012 and spent five seasons coaching the offensive and defensive lines, passed away October 7th at the age of 72.

Dueck completed 5-of-11 pass attempts for 107 yards.

Christian Ginter and Avery Penner added rushing touchdowns.

The two running backs combined for 15 carries and 109 yards.

The defense chipped in as linebacker Skyler Wilkinson returned a fumble for a major.

Jayden Pozniak and Thomas Peters recorded quarterback sacks and defensive back Bryson Friesen had an interception.

With the win the Sabres improved to 3-1 in the Winnipeg High School Football League's Junior Varsity Division.

The SRSS will take on Vincent Massey on Wednesday, October 18th in Winnipeg.

The Trojans have a 4-0 record.

"Next weeks game against Vincent Massey will be a great challenge for our team," commented Friesen. "We know that we are beatable, as shown two weeks ago when we met Oak Park. With that said, our staff and players see this game as a playoff preview and an important measuring stick game to see what we need to tighten up and prepare for come playoffs."
