Change happens and Jamie Peters has seen it all since year two of the Steinbach Regional Secondary School's football program.

High school football players do eventually graduate.

Which means new players need to step in.

The Sabres new player/parent meeting will take place tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the SRSS theatre.

"It's always good to answer questions about the commitment and where we play, how we practice and how things go," said Peters who continues to manage the football program at Steinbach Regional and will serve as an assistant coach on the varsity team this upcoming season. "With the injury concerns that surrounds the sport of football, it's good to get everyone together and make sure we hammer out all those details."

Besides the time commitment, Peters says concussions are a big concern.

"There is risks in any activities that people do but I think it's important to understand how we try and prevent them, and how we take care of them and understand what they're all about. It's also about the new students and getting them to come and practice here because we start so quickly in September."

The SRSS Spring Camp will take place from May 1st - 31st.

The Sabres will begin their ninth season in the Winnipeg High School Football League this fall while the SRSS junior varsity team starts it's second season.
