Steinbach Piston's goalie Matt Radomsky stopped all 21 shots he faced in a 3-0 win while Daniel McKitrick scored his 3rd goal in 2 games propelling the Pistons to a 3-0 win over the Dauphin Kings Wednesday afternoon, wrapping up the Pistons showcase games at the Bell MTS Iceplex.

It was another afternoon game on Wednesday but it didn't throw off the Pistons who controlled through most of the opening period. After a flurry of chances were turned away, Daniel McKitrick scored to make it 1-0 Steinbach. For McKitrick, it's his third goal of the showcase and 13th of the year. Mark Taraschuk and Mark Wilson had the assists.

The captain of the Pistons got into the scoring act later in the period as Braden Purtill buried his 21st of the year from Will Koop and Jaret Lalli to make it 2-0.

The Pistons heavily outshot Dauphin 23-8 but Radomsky made an unbelievable glove save that had fans cheering the Winnipeg native.

No scoring happened in the second but just over two minutes into the third, the Pistons struck again when Koop snapped home a beautiful wrist shot to push the lead to 3-0. Wilson had his second point of the night with an assist.

With the 3-0 final, it was back to back shutouts for the Pistons as a team.

The penalty kill was spectacular again as the group finished 9 for 9. The power play was 0-5.

Coaches Notes

Assistant coach Joey Moggach was again pleased with his team's 60-minute effort for a second straight game. "I think the guys played really hard, another good game for us. Anytime you have that amount of pucks and limit their team, it's a real solid effort. Rads was real solid in net. It was good to see our guys come out with another big effort."

Getting 50 shots is never easy and Moggach attributes it to doing the little things over the course of the game. "It's about winning battles along the boards and in the corners. We talked puck management and getting pucks in deep and we did that, it allows us to get the forecheck going. We get into the zone and use the skills we have to protect pucks. We have a good, smart group and they know how to move the puck. We did a good job of that today."

Confidence Growing

For Radomsky, it was his 3rd shutout of the year and he's feeling like he's really hitting his stride. "The confidence is starting to build. There was a little stretch where I wasn't winning games but these last two (a 4-3 victory over OCN in Steinbach this past weekend), right in a row, it's awesome."

Going a decent length of time between shots, Radomsky doesn't worry about staying mentally engaged, but "kinda physically, you can get tight or cold," Radomsky said post-game. "As long as you stayed keyed in mentally, you should be alright."
