The Eastman Female AAA Midget Selects got 26 saves out of goalie Emma Plett and Kylie Lesuk had a goal and two assists in a 3-0 win over the Interlake Lightning over the weekend.

Shake A Leg

It wasn't a fast start for the Selects to start the game as the team came out a bit flat. They spent most of the first period trying to get their legs going and push the pace of the game.

It took till about the midway point of the opening period but once the Selects got going, they put on a show.

Lesuk LeFantastic

At the midway point, the Selects converted when Laci Gaffray scored her first of the season to make it 1-0 with the lone assist going to Kylie Lesuk who got her scoring night started.

She was far from done.

In the second, the Selects continued their assault on the Lightning goal, pressing hard for another goal.

It eventually did come hear the half-way point.

While short-handed, hard work by Sydney Stotski freed up the puck behind the Lightning net and she fed a pass to Lesuk in front and she slid home a backhander to make it a 2-0 Selects lead.

The game was put out of reach in the third when Jade Giesbrecht cashed in from Mackenzie Dixon and Lesuk who notched her third point of the night on the 3-0 goal.

Emma Plett was a rock between the pipes as she clamped down on a 26 save shutout.

Best Penalty Killer Is...

The old saying in hockey is the goalie has to be your best penalty killer and vs the Interlake Lightning, that was true.

Plett held strong and backed the Selects to a perfect PK night going 6-6.

Also, with the Selects controlling the play for long stretches, coaches admired Plett's mental toughness and focus despite stretches of inaction.
