The Steinbach Pistons battled hard but fell in overtime to the Swan Valley Stampeders on Saturday night as the best of seven series switches back to Steinbach all tied up at 1-1.

Powerful Power-Plays

 The Stamps opened the scoring with a power-play goal with just under seven minutes to go in the opening period.

Before the period was out, the Pistons would knot the game up with a power play goal of their own.

A good entry into the Swan zone allowed Steinbach to get their power-play set up as Kyle Bettens controled the puck on the half-wall, he teed up a pass for Troy Williams who let loose his cannon of a shot that was perfectly deflected by Tanner Mole.

For Mole, it was his fourth of the playoffs and tied things up 1-1 with under seven minutes to go in the period.

Grabbing The Lead

In the middle frame, the Pistons outworked the Stamps in their own end and managed to grab the go-ahead goal.

Nico Labossiere stripped the defender behind the Swan net and fed a pass out to Brendan Martin who shook off his check and managed to get some space. As he was being pressured, he fed a perfect pass over to Riley Vautour who put home his second goal in as many games to give Steinbach a 2-1 lead.

Swan turned it up in the third and were able to tie the game just over two minutes into the final period.

The Stamps continued to pressure but Matt Radomsky made several huge saves to keep things all tied up at 2-2.

The buzzer sounded and for the third time in the series and for the Pistons, the second time in their playoffs, they were off to overtime.

Quick Dagger

Swan scored the game winner with 3:13 gone in the extra frame and tied the series 1-1.

Game Notes

The Pistons were able to kill off 5 of the 6 penalties they were given, including all three penalties they were given in the third period. The biggest kill coming off a penalty called with 1:36 seconds reamining in regulation that carried over into overtime.

Steinbach had two power plays in the game and scored on one of them.

Radomsky was a rock again finsihing 35 saves.

The series switches back to Steinbach as the Pistons will have the next two games at the TG Smith Centre on Wednesday and Thursday night before heading back to Swan Valley for game 5 on Saturday.
