Brittney Langlais is Baseball Manitoba’s Female Player of the Year for the third time since the award was created six years ago.

“It definitely means a lot to be represented in Manitoba,” said the Garson product prior to the start of Baseball Manitoba’s Awards Banquet Saturday night in Brandon. “This is where I grew up and everyone I played against so it means a lot that they noticed that I played my part.”

Langlais enjoyed a really hectic summer.

She helped Team Manitoba capture bronze at Baseball Canada’s 21U Women’s Invitational Championship in Ottawa, played for the Interlake Blue Jays of the Manitoba Junior Baseball League and for the third year in a row was a member of Baseball Canada’s Women’s Prospect Team that competed at the Baseball Canada Women’s Senior Invitational in Okotoks, Alberta.

“The prospects team is amazing,” said Langlais. “We get to compete against the best girls in Canada. We’re all really good friends now. It really paid off this summer that I made Team Canada so it’s amazing.”

Langlais was named to our Women’s National Baseball Team that will compete at the 2020 World Cup.

“I was a little shocked at first. I didn’t want to get too excited when they were picking the team but it was amazing. I’m so happy.”

Langlais is also the first Manitoban to be named to Team Canada in the Women’s National Team’s 20-year history.

“I didn’t really know I was the first until people told me but I’m so happy that I could set that,” said Langlais.
