Blake Wheeler was in on every Winnipeg goal as the Jets defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 Friday night at Bell MTS Place.

The Winnipeg captain scored his third goal of the season into an empty net with 1:24 remaining in the game and earlier drew assists on goals by Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, Nikolaj Ehlers and Patrik Laine.

Wheeler now has 401 career assists.

The Jets have scored a power play goal in 11 consecutive games.

Connor and Laine scored with the man advantage against Colorado.

Erik Johnson and Tyson Jost replied for the Avalanche who have lost five in a row.

Winnipeg defenseman Dmitry Kulikov left in the first period with an upper-body injury and did not return.

The Jets (9-5-1) will play their second of a four-game homestand on Sunday against New Jersey.
