The Carillon Senior Hockey League's 2016-2017 season will come to an end Wednesday night in Ste. Anne when the Aces host the Red River Wild.

The best-of-seven final is tied at three games a piece after the defending champions defeated the Wild 5-2 Sunday afternoon in St. Jean.

Brennan Ritchie scored a pair of power play goals for the Aces who have rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to force game seven.

"Just good chemistry," said Ritchie when asked to explain the team's success with the man advantage on Sunday. "Lots of our guys have been together for a few years now. All skilled players and put them all together, good things are going to happen."

Yvan Pattyn and Billy Harrison scored in the first period for the Aces who led 2-1 after 20 minutes.

Ritchie notched his first power play goal with 4:12 left in the second period.

That goal came just 88 seconds after Wild forward Tyler Pchajek banged a rebound past Ste. Anne goaltender Guy St.Vincent and tied the game at 2-2.

The difference maker came late in the period as Aces captain Steph Pattyn stole the puck in the Red River zone and beat Wild goaltender Marshall Cox with a forehand deke.

That shorthanded goal with 23 seconds remaining in the middle frame extended Ste. Anne's lead to 4-2.

The two teams didn't have much left in the tank in the third period as game six was played just 16-and-a-half hours after game five wrapped up on Saturday night in Ste. Anne.

"We did get a little big tired and we started making a couple of mental errors," said Red River forward Paul Remillard. "We got to go back to basics and play our game. Pucks out, pucks deep and we got to grind them down."

Bryan Lodewyks also scored for the Wild.

Steph Pattyn says home ice will be an advantage for game seven.

"I think that's huge. We're expecting a big crowd. We had a big crowd on Saturday night and I think it's going to be even bigger on Wednesday night. We're really looking forward to it."

Both teams will be looking to win their third CSHL championship on Wednesday.

"It's winner take all," said Wild captain Cole Brunet. "You got to go. You got all summer to rest up."
