Mel Braun, David Klassen and David Playfair, three distinguished baritones areaccompanied on piano by the incomparable piano skills of Dr. Laura Loewen. Allfour are prairie artists based in Manitoba … all four are classically-trained musicians and performers with well-established and long careers … and all four teach music atthe university level, including University of Manitoba, Brandon University, Canadian Mennonite University and Providence College University.
David Klassen, Steinbach native has been singing his whole life but started to pursue the more professional level that he is at now 20 years ago.
When asked if being from Steinbach inspires him heres what Klassen had to say: "I think one's "home town" should always inspire/motivate them. The people who surround you and support you in the cities and towns where you grow up often play a role in what you choose to do with your life, either directly or indirectly. Being from this area is a real benefit as a classical musician because of the strong cultural arts community that exists here. Very few cities like steinbach have that prominent of an arts commnity - as a result, they want to see you succeed, and tend to support you in whatever you do."
