Our regular readers will know that we will celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2014. Mennonite Heritage Village was incorporated in 1964. We have grown into a world-class Village Museum and need to celebrate what we have become.

At least one event has been planned for each month of the year. January will start with a special film night sponsored by the MHV Auxiliary. Other events include a celebration of our founders, a presentation on our artifacts, an evening of MHV stories, a garden tour sponsored by the Steinbach and Area Garden Club in conjunction with the MHV Auxiliary, and others. Watch our website at www.mhv.ca for updates and announcements.

The signature Jubilee event will take place on the weekend of July 5 and 6. A very interesting gala dinner is being planned for July 5 with a special worship service, tours and a Saengerfest on July 6. We hope to see local people as well as out of province guests at these days of celebration.

The Gerhard Ens Gallery will feature an exhibit on our collection of artifacts, A Growing Community Collection, 50 years. While we can’t exhibit all 16,000 of our artifacts we will pack as many as possible into the gallery. The Mennonite Heritage Village at 50 is the exhibit being planned for the Auditorium Gallery.

With the theme Celebrate With Us, 2014 promises to be a very busy and exciting year. We hope you will be able to participate in many of these events.

It is our wish that all would experience considerable joy and much fulfillment in 2014.
