The Bombers and Lions are just a day away from fighting for the chance to play in the Grey Cup. Should fans be bundled up in blue and gold?
Considering it's an afternoon game in the middle of November on the Canadian prairies, the forecast isn't looking too bad at all.
Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. and with a forecasted high of -4 for the day, that's exactly what the temperature should be as the game gets underway. That's downright balmy to a hearty Winnipegger and Manitoban. While there is some light snow falling this morning in Winnipeg that's expected to end, but there is a small chance of snow this afternoon and 2 centimetres expected tonight.
Winds are expected to be light ... at least light for Winnipeg, blowing up to 15 km/h at times. That will result in a windchill of -8 in open areas, so keep that in mind as you pick out your layers of clothing.
Also keep in mind that sunset will occur at 4:47 p.m., just before the end of the first half. Temperatures will drop somewhat shortly after that, and will most likely be around -8 for the second half of the game.
Just the facts:
- Kickoff is 3:30 p.m.
- The temperature will be around -5 or -4 at kickoff
- Windchill of -8 in open areas Sunday afternoon
- Sunset is 4:47 p.m.
- The temperature should be around -6 after sunset
All-in-all it should be a beautiful day for Canadian football. While Winnipeg and the surrounding region were hit hard with snow earlier this week there is no more snow expected in the forecast for Sunday. And, while it's not bone-chilling cold for the players, hopefully it's just cold enough to give the Bombers another advantage over the visitors from the warmer west coast.
There are still tickets available for the game, starting at just $40 per ticket. If the Bombers win, they will be off to the CFL's championship game for the third season in a row, hoping to also win for the third season in a row.
In their last game of the regular season, the Bombers beat the Lions 24-9. However, both teams played many of their starters for just a few series and then rested them ahead of the playoffs.
