The Emergency Department at Ste. Anne Hospital remains open, even though there is a COVID-19 outbreak in their inpatient area.

In a statement from Southern Health, the regional health authority has indicated that the Emergency Department remains open following consultation with their Infection Control Program, which aligns with the current COVID-19 provincial protocols.

The statement says that hospital staff continue to work diligently to care for the patients and is following protocols. Staffing levels are reviewed regularly and adjusted according to patients' needs.

The regional health authority also says that it is evaluating the situation on a day-by-day basis and is hopeful that the outbreak will end in the coming days.

Finally, Southern Health is reminding hospital visitors to refrain from visiting health care facilities if feeling ill and that wearing a mask is still required when visiting a health care facility.
