Highway 52 has reopened following a two vehicle crash early Friday morning east of Steinbach.

La Broquerie Fire Chief Al Nadeau says they were called to the scene near Borland Road at approximately 6:45 am.

Nadeau says it appears a young driver was attempting a U-turn on the highway when it was unsafe to do so. An oncoming truck crashed into the car.

Nadeau says injuries were minor, but he urges motorists to drive with caution, particularly during busy times of the day.

"Just be really careful on the 52, like mornings and nights when it's traffic hours, it's absolutely a busy highway," says Nadeau. "Terrible highway."

Emergency crews shut down Highway 52 between Ekron and Borland for about an hour in order to clear the scene. Nadeau says they close the entire mile for safety reasons, while the vehicles are being removed from the roadway.

He adds both vehicles were totaled.
