The accident happened Friday morning shortly after 7:00 at the junction of highways 403 and 216 east of St. Malo.
St. Pierre RCMP tell us the 64-year-old driver of the semi has been charged with failure to stop at a stop sign. He was not injured in the mishap. The Jaws of Life were used to extricate the 59-year-old female driver of the Sunfire. She was transported to St. Pierre Hospital with undetermined injuries and then transferred to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg where she's listed in stable condition. Police say investigation revealed the driver of an eastbound semi-tractor/trailer unit failed to stop and was struck by a northbound Pontiac Sunfire. The car became caught under the trailer and was dragged several hundred feet causing the semi to roll onto it's side.
