The Hanover Fire Department responded to a tractor fire Monday afternoon near Steinbach.

Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says they were called to a field along Road 37 North, about a mile-and-a-half west of the city.

“When our crews arrived, they found a tractor on fire,” says Wiebe.

He notes the farmer had noticed the tractor starting to burn and called 911.

“Our crews were able to get there and to extinguish what was left of the tractor,” adds Wiebe.

According to Wiebe, it appears the tractor will be a total loss. He is not sure what caused the fire, but says it is not suspicious in nature.

Wiebe says there were no injuries.
