One person was airlifted to hospital, following a three vehicle crash Monday afternoon near Grunthal.

At approximately 2:30 pm, St. Pierre RCMP responded to the crash along Provincial Road 216, just south of Provincial Road 205.

Police believe that a vehicle was stopped and waiting to turn onto a private driveway, when a vehicle travelling behind failed to notice and swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding with two vehicles.

The driver who swerved, an 18-year-old male from the Rural Municipality of Hanover, was flown to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg by STARS air ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The other two drivers were checked on scene by EMS and released.

Hanover Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says the crash closed down that highway for less than an hour while crews cleared the scene.

Police say drugs and alcohol were not factors.

The investigation continues.
