The Carillon Sultans were eliminated from the Manitoba Junior Baseball League playoffs Monday night in Winnipeg.

The four-time defending champion Elmwood Giants plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning and added three more in the fifth en route to an 8-3 victory over Carillon in the third and deciding game of their semifinal.

Meech Nadeau had two rbi for the Sultans and Burke Heide drilled a solo home run.

The Sultans knocked off the St. Boniface Legionaires in the opening round of the MJBL playoffs.

Carillon lost the series opener 5-2 at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach and then beat the Legionaires 7-2 and 8-3 at Whittier Park.

The Sultans finished the regular season schedule in fifth place with a 9-15 record.
