An RCMP officer was assaulted Saturday night in Steinbach while attempting to make an arrest. An RCMP officer in Steinbach was assaulted Saturday night in our city. Police say the officer was attempting to make an arrest when a third party attacked the officer allowing the suspect to escape. Both were later arrested and will be charged with assaulting a police officer and escaping lawful custody. The officer was not injured.
