RCMP arrested a man from Winnipeg following an armed robbery at Dairy Queen in Steinbach Saturday evening.
At approximately 6:13 pm, Steinbach RCMP received a call of an armed robbery in progress. Police were told that a man had entered the Dairy Queen restaurant and presented a note to one of the employees demanding money. He also stated that he was armed.
Police say they immediately attended the location and arrested the man as he was walking away from the restaurant in the parking lot.
Upon searching the man, they located a hatchet and a small knife concealed on his body as well as another knife in his backpack. Stolen property was also recovered in the backpack.
According to police, none of the employees were injured during the incident.
Steinbach RCMP say 34-year-old Terrance Machiskinic of Winnipeg faces numerous charges including robbery with an offensive weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5,000.
He was remanded into custody.
