The issue of violence against women was highlighted Thursday in Steinbach and across Canada.
Thursday marked the 18th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre where 14 women were killed at Ecole Polytechnique. Agape House in Steinbach held a violence vigil at city hall to remember those women and the 13 women who were killed in Manitoba this year as a result of violence. Hali Reimer with Agape House thinks we can't forget the Montreal Massacre because it demonstrated a lack of respect for women and unfortunately that mentality still exists today. She believes it's important to keep remembering that event because it's when we forget that we're in danger of repeating it. Reimer says we can't possibly hope for world peace if we aren't willing to first bring peace into our homes.
