Steinbach played host to the official launch of Manitoba's Canada Day celebration.  The opening ceremony took place this morning at the Mennonite Heritage Village.  Steinbach mayor Les Magnusson was on hand and shared that for him the best thing about living in Canada is the freedom we enjoy.  Steinbach MLA Kelvin Goertzen agrees adding he also loves the opporunities that are available to us and that we have a wonderful reputation around the world.  And Provencher MP Vic Toews says there are so many good things happening in Canada and the best is yet to come.  As part of the official ceremony 17 Canada Day youth awards were handed out.  One went to Alexandre Bazin of La Broquerie.  He was nominated for his volunteer efforts at the Mennonite Heritage Village.
