Steinbach Bible College and Steinbach Christian High School want the same treatment from the city as given the Eastman Education Campus.
SBC President Don Thiessen appeared before city council Tuesday night to request a grant of $100,000.00 over 5 years. He says they need the money to help cover a spike in taxes and unexpected costs regarding their parking lot. Mayor Chris Goertzen says this is different than the Eastman Education Campus because SBC and SCHS are private, church-backed schools. Yet he agrees they contribute significantly to the city's economy. Mayor Goertzen adds council will make a decision early in the new year.
