Steinbach Regional dropped a 7-2 decision to the St. Paul's Crusaders Monday afternoon at the T.G. Smith Centre. Jude Plett and Theoren Koop did the goal scoring for the Sabres who have lost six in a row. Dylan Moon, Jonah Norman and Jack Gard had two goals each for the Crusaders. St. Paul's scored three times on the power play. The SRSS will play it's final game before the start of the Christmas break Wednesday in Winnipeg against Garden City.

 

Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers is the NHL's Third Star of the Week. Ehlers began the week with a goal in Winnipeg’s 4-2 loss to Buffalo on Monday. On Friday, the 2014 first-round pick assisted on both of the Jets goals in a 5-2 setback to the Washington Capitals. Ehlers scored and added a trio of assists on Sunday in a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues. It was his fourth career four-point game and fifth three-assist effort. The 25-year-old Aalborg, Denmark native’s seven points tied for the most in the NHL last week and his five assists were tied for second.

 

The National Hockey League and the NHL Players Association on Monday announced the suspension of all operations from Wednesday to Christmas Day amid an increase of positive COVID-19 tests. After the shutdown, practices can resume Sunday afternoon and games are scheduled to resume next Monday. The Winnipeg Jets road games scheduled for tonight against the Nashville Predators and Wednesday against the Dallas Stars were postponed. The Jets first game back after the end of the Christmas break is Monday, December 27th against the Minnesota Wild at Canada Life Centre.

 

Due to the ever-changing landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hockey Canada has withdrawn from the 2021 Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland. Canada's National Women’s Team game against the United States scheduled for Monday night in St. Paul was cancelled. Team Canada was to play the seventh game of the Rivalry Series, the final one played in the U.S., before the series shifts back to Canada for the final two games, January 3rd in Edmonton and January 6th in Red Deer. Hockey Canada also postponed the Women’s Olympic Team roster announcement to a yet-to-be-determined date.
