The Lorette Comets and Springfield Xtreme were winners in the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League playoffs Wednesday night. Lorette shaded Niverville 4-3 in Ile des Chenes in game one of their best-of-seven semifinal. Liam McClintok, Jayden Berard, Derik Cook and Tyler Pilon did the goal scoring for the Comets. Ethan Fehr, Pat Robidoux and Micah Funk replied for the Clippers who were outshot 46-20. Game two is Saturday in Lorette. Devon Weimer had a goal and two assists and Dylan Kizlik made 27 saves as Springfield blanked the Steinbach Huskies 5-0 in Oakbank. Kai Orchard, Carson Allaire, Nicolas Daymond and Owen Blocker also scored for the Xtreme. That series is tied at one and game three goes Saturday in Oakbank.

 

The Brandon Wheat Kings and Winnipeg Ice were both winners in the Western Hockey League Wednesday night. With goaltender Ethan Kruger on the bench for an extra attacker, Nolan Ritchie scored his second of the game and 20th of the season with 1:29 left in the third period and Chad Nychuk potted the winner shorthanded with five seconds remaining in overtime as Brandon beat Saskatoon 6-5 at Westoba Place. Vincent Iorio, Riley Ginnell and Marcus Kallionkieli also scored in regulation for the Wheat Kings. Winnipeg edged the Hurricanes 3-2 in Lethbridge. Skylar Bruce, Conor Geekie and Matthew Savoie did the goal scoring for the Ice.

 

The Winnipeg Jets lost 3-2 to Dallas. Tyler Seguin scored the winner for the Stars 54 seconds into overtime. Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele scored in regulation for the Jets who have a pair of OT losses to start their four-game road trip that continues Friday against the Colorado Avalanche.

 

The Manitoba Moose gave up three power play goals and fell 6-2 to the Milwaukee Admirals at Canada Life Centre. Cole Maier and Bobby Lynch did the goal scoring for the Moose. Manitoba outshoot Milwaukee 30-19.
