The St. Malo Warriors dropped an 8-3 decision to the Ice Dawgs in Arborg Thursday night. Levi Penner had a pair of goals for the Warriors while the other went to Ashton Dubois. St. Malo has two games left in the regular season schedule. The Warriors will face the Fishermen in Selkirk tonight and then play the Falcons in Lundar on Sunday. St. Malo will meet the Ice Dawgs in the best-of-seven Capital Region Junior Hockey League semifinal which begins March 5th in Arborg.

 

Steinbach Pistons forward Zach Power has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The 20-year-old Glencoe, Ontario native joined the Pistons in mid-January. Power has nine goals and 14 assists in 14 games with Steinbach. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks are an independent and play out of the Carlson Center in Fairbanks, Alaska.

 

The Brandon Wheat Kings have clinched first place in the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League. The Wheat Kings won their regular season finale 4-2 over the Winnipeg Wild and finished with a 33-4-3 record. The Wild, who wrap up their regular season schedule Sunday against the Southwest Cougars at Bell MTS Iceplex, are tied with the Eastman Selects for second place, Both teams have 65 points.
