The Carillon Sultans season came to an end Tuesday night at Quarry Park. The Stonewall Blue Jays outscored the Sultans 11-10 and took the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League's best-of-five final three games to one. 


The Zone 13 High School Golf Championships take place today at La Broquerie Golf. The Provincial High School Golf Championships will be held September 23rd in Carman. 


Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros and defensive end Willie Jefferson have been named CFL Top Performers for their work in the Blue Bombers 54-20 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the annual Banjo Bowl Saturday at IG Field. Collaros completed 21 of 25 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions. The CFL’s reigning Most Outstanding Player now leads the league in passing touchdowns with 26, while already throwing for 3,236 yards in 2022. Jefferson recorded two sacks, a forced fumble and three defensive tackles in Saturday’s victory. Jefferson has now registered seven quarterback sacks, a forced fumble, 25 defensive tackles, and an interception (returned for a touchdown) through 13 games in 2022.


Defenseman Dean Stewart of Portage la Prairie and forward Chase Bertholet of The Pas are on the Winnipeg Jets 24-player roster for the 2022 Rookie Camp that will attend the Young Stars Classic in Penticton from September 16th-19th. The group playing in Penticton will be on the ice together for the first time at Bell MTS Iceplex today at 1:30 p.m. Stewart had a goal and eight assists in 20 games with the AHL's Manitoba Moose last season and also played 27 games with the ECHL's Wichita Thunder where he recorded four goals and seven assists. Bertholet had 24 goals and 34 assists in 72 games with the Western Hockey League's Winnipeg Ice and Spokane Chiefs. Three of Winnipeg's recent first round selections in the NHL Draft: Cole Perfetti (2020), Chaz Lucius (2021), and Brad Lambert (2022) are also on the Jets Rookie Camp roster. Winnipeg will face the Calgary Flames on Friday; the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday and the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. This will be the seventh time the Jets are taking part in the Young Stars Classic. Winnipeg has participated since its inaugural season in 2011-12 with the exception of 2012, when the event was cancelled due to the NHL’s work stoppage, 2019, when the event was not held, and 2020, when the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


Kristian Hammerback of Winnipeg opened with a nine-over par 80 and is in a tie for seventh place in the men's gross stroke competition heading into the final round of the Canadian All Abilities Championship at the Essex Golf and Country Club in Windsor, Ontario. Kurtis Barkley of Williamsburg, Ontario has the lead at minus four. Hammerback is also in seventh place in the men's net stableford competition with 35 points. Randall Mackus of Prince George is in first place with 42 points.
