Steinbach Regional will meet the College Jeanne-Sauve Olympiens tonight (6 p.m.) at Glenlawn Collegiate in Winnipeg in the South Central Athletic Conference AAAA Junior Varsity girls volleyball final. The Sabres swept J.H. Bruns 25-19, 25-15, 25-11 in the semifinals Monday night in Steinbach. The SRSS junior varsity boys lost to College Jeanne-Sauve in their semifinal. The Olympiens defeated the Sabres 25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 25-17.


Steinbach Christian will face the Edward Schreyer Barons in the Zone 13 High School Volleyball varsity boys AAA final. The Flames swept the Niverville Panthers 25-12, 25-23, 25-19 in the South Division final. 


Three Manitoba Junior Hockey League teams are inside the top 10 of the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s Top 20 rankings for the third week in a row. The Steinbach Pistons (15-2-1) moved from eighth spot to number four. The Winkler Flyers (14-2-0-1) dropped from three to five. The Dauphin Kings (13-3) fell from six to number nine. The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Flin Flon Bombers (14-1-1) are the number one ranked team in the country for the third week in a row.


Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor is the NHL's Second Star of the Week. The 26-year-old Shelby Township, Mich. native began the week with two goals and an assist, including the game winner, in a 5-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. On Thursday, the 2015 first-round pick recorded his fifth career hat trick and added an assist in Winnipeg’s 6-3 win over the Nashville Predators. Finally, Connor recorded an assist in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Dallas Stars. 


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Montreal Alouettes and the Grey Cup arrived in Hamilton Monday. Winnipeg and Montreal meet Sunday at Tim Hortons Field in the 110th Grey Cup. The game is sold out. The Blue Bombers will be making their fourth straight appearance in the CFL championship game. The Alouettes last played in the Grey Cup in 2010. Winnipeg and Montreal have never met in the Grey Cup.

The Canadian Curling Club Championships begin Sunday in Winnipeg. 2023 women's champion Kara Balshaw will join Clayton Dreger on This Week in Curling which airs Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m. on AM 1250 Radio.
