Ty Brewster of Steinbach is in 18th place heading into round two of the Provincial Junior Men's Golf Championship. Brewster was nine-over par 81 Monday at the Teulon Golf & Country Club and is 14 shots back of first round leader Teerawat Boonseeor of Thailand who was five-under par 67 in round one. Jeri Lafleche of Clear Lake was two-over par 74 and leads defending champion Addison Kartusch of St. Charles by two shots after round one of the Provincial Junior Women's Golf Championship which is also at Teulon.
The Carillon Sultans meet the Stonewall Blue Jays tonight (7 p.m.) at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach. The Sultans are in third place in the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League with a 9-3 record. The first place West Winnipeg A's are 10-1 and the second place Elmwood Giants are 9-2.
Sioux City center fielder Chase Harris' two-run homer to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out proved to be the difference as the Explorers defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 2-1 Monday at Mercy Field. The Goldeyes have lost back-to-back one-run games and after starting the road trip 3-0 are 1-4 since. Andy Armstrong had the lone rbi for the Fish.
After a couple of days off, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers practice today from 11:25 a.m. - 1:25 p.m. at IG Field. The Bombers host the Calgary Stampeders Friday. Winnipeg is coming off a 17-3 victory over the Alouettes in Montreal on Saturday night.

The University of Manitoba finished 10th at the Canadian University/College Men's Golf Championship in Komoka, Ontario. Steinbach's Cole Peters of the Bisons golf team will join Clayton Dreger on Off the Tee which airs Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m. on AM 1250 Radio.
