Mercedees Gorham of Steinbach, Kennedy Toews of Blumenort, Raven Carriére of La Broquerie, Caitlin Culleton of Vassar, Brittany Langlais of Garson and Avery Pickering of St. Adolphe have been named to Team Manitoba's roster for Baseball Canada's 2022 Women’s Invitational Championship that will be held at Quarry Park in Stonewall from July 21st to 24th. Manitoba will play round robin games against Ontario 1 and Équipe Québec Sélect Team on Thursday and British Columbia and Saskatchewan on Friday. The quarterfinals begin Saturday night. 


The Carillon Sultans face the St. Boniface Legionaires tonight at Whittier Park in game one of the Manitoba Junior Baseball League's best-of-three quarterfinal. Two other series begin tonight as the Winnipeg South Wolves visit the St. James A's and the Altona Bisons host the Pembina Valley Orioles. The Elmwood Giants outscored the Interlake Blue Jays 10-9 Monday night at Koskie Field in game one of their series. Game two is scheduled for tonight in Stonewall. 


Alex Morgan converted a penalty in the 78th minute to give the United States a 1-0 victory over Canada in the CONCACAF women's championship game Monday night in Monterrey, Mexico. The Americans qualified for the Paris Games in 2024 with the win, while the reigning Olympic champions will now play third-place Jamaica in September 2023 for CONCACAF’s remaining spot. Both the United States and Canada had already qualified for next year’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, along with Jamaica and Costa Rica.


The Saskatchewan Roughriders, who lost 30-24 to the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday in the Touchdown Atlantic game in Halifax, have confirmed that several members of the CFL team have recently tested positive for COVID-19. The Riders did not disclose who tested positive, but confirm it was members of the team and its support staff. The team has cancelled today's practice, but expects to resume all on-field activities Wednesday. The Roughriders and Argos are scheduled to play this Saturday in Regina.
